Marine Biodiversity and Biotechnology

From the shoreline to the deep ocean, tackling issues from pure ecology
and physiology to aquaculture, marine spatial planning and conservation.

Marine vertebrates

Vertebrate research within CMBB encompasses two disciplines; the study of the physiology and biology of fish, and the behaviour and conservation managament of fish and larger vertebrates, including sharks, stingrays and cetaceans.

In the first area, research examines the disease prevention and control, and optimal diets of commercial fish, in the interests of aquaculture.

The second area has a conservation perspecive, examining habitat associations, population dynamics and behaviour of marine vertebrates from a management perspective.
