Diveteam banner

On Friday 24th October, the CMBB will be hosting the 50th Anniversary celebrations of scientific diving at Heriot-Watt University.

With an opening introduction from Heriot-Watt's Vice Chancellor, Professor Steve Chapman, the evening will proceed with Professor Hamish Mair presenting a pictorial and anecdotal history of the 50 years of scientific diving at Heriot-Watt. After this, a panel of 'old guard' divers and colleagues will provide some memories and their own anecdotes of these activities.

Speakers will include Cliff Johnston, Paul Kingston, Martin Wilkinson, Bobby Forbes, Dan Harries, Jo Porter and Bill Sanderson. Alumni present in the audience will be encouraged and welcome to provide their own comments.

The evening will include short sessions on:

• Heriot-Watt plans for the future in using advanced technologies for diving science research

• Presentation of stunning underwater visuals from a professional photographer

• Examples of old diving technologies (some museum pieces!)

• Launch of special edition booklet celebrating the various activities of the 50 years of scientific diving at Heriot-Watt

We are compiling a collection of photos, memories and anecdotes from the last fifty years of this "exclusive" club, and we hope you can contribute to it. Please send your media and memories to The Watt Club. There will be plenty of time for socialising throughout the evening.
